Matenadaran — the institute of ancient manuscripts — is an archive of Armenian memory.

The architecture of language.

The engraving for Matenadaran is inspired by the Armenian alphabet — one of the oldest and most distinctive scripts in the world.

The linework arranges the letters not as text, but as structural elements:

• vertical script columns echoing manuscript pages

• rhythmic repetition of letterforms

• negative space resembling parchment margins

• a balanced grid symbolizing archived knowledge

The engraving becomes a visual manuscript blueprint, honoring Matenadaran as the guardian of Armenian literacy, history, and scholarly tradition.

We approached the fragrance as a study of preserved knowledge:

• ink absorbed into parchment

• leather bindings

• cool stone halls

• dust warmed by filtered sunlight

• faint sweetness of aged paper

Matenadaran is a deep, intellectual scent — a library of centuries, bound in warm silence.

Candle Care

Burn for 2–3 hours on first use.
Trim wick to ¼ inch.
Do not burn more than 3 hours at a time.
Stop use when ¼ inch of wax remains.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
